I’m happy to report to you the books that I was able to read in 2016…
I’ll post soon about my journey to become a reader, but you have to understand that a list of 17 books in one year is NOT something that I ever thought Mark Bodlien was capable of… To God be the Glory!
If you’d like more of a review of any of these titles, just leave me a comment below.
Business and Leadership
Living Forward by Michael and Daniel Harkavy
Read it. Do it!
Strengths Finder 2.0 by Tom Rath
Take the test. Skim it. Keep it for reference.
Courageous Leadership by Bill Hybels
Good read for leaders
Ministry Development
Diaries of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney
Middle School: The Worst Years of my Life by James Patterson
I read both of these to get inside the mind of a middle schooler as we developed content and programming for The Wild our new middle school camp. I laughed out loud throughout both books.
Training Children to be Spiritual Champions by George Barna
Context for content and programming for The Ranch
Volunteer Revolution by Bill Hybyls
Leading Not Normal Volunteers by Sue Miller
I read both of these to glean leadership ideas for use with summer camp staff. I would suggest them to camp staff leaders or church leaders of volunteers.
Visioneering by Andy Stanley
Skim it for Visioncasting ideas.
Men, Family and Marriage
Real Valor by Steve Farrar
Surprising lessons from Ruth/Boaz
Devotional
The Indwelling Life of Christ by Major Ian Thomas
Great devotional content
New Morning Mercies by Paul David Tripp
Very good, a little repetitive
Personal Spiritual Development
Pursuit of God by AW Tozer
You must read this. One chapter at a time, no more. Even the Preface kicks your butt.
Humility by CJ Mahaney
You must read this. Very easy read, very applicable.
Missions
The God Ask– Steve Shadrach
Perspecives- Steve Shadrach
I read these for preparing to raise missionary support, Excellent!
Student Power in World Missions– D. Howard
Suggested by Mike Calhoun, this shows how most modern revivals and missions movements were begun by students who prayed and went. Very good!
