Borderline crazy

I grew up watching Star Trek, it was a father/son bonding thing and I still enjoy watching it, especially the new movies.
Mr. Spock would always remind Captain Kirk of the most logical solution to the situation that they were faced with. Most times, Kirk would, instead, go with his gut instinct and everything would turn out just fine.
Deciding to go to Chile was not a logical decision.
The more I think about it, logically, the more it doesn’t make sense. But it does makes complete sense under direction of and obedience to the Holy Spirits’ guidance in our lives and leading in our hearts. I guess that’s the Christian’s ‘gut’ instinct 2.0
Logically we have had:
A steady income
A consistent, predictable job
A great house that is spacious and efficient
We work with people that we know and like and even love!
We are making a difference in ministry and church
Things are going great with The Ranch and The Wild, just exploding!
The kids love it here and love camp.
We have lots of families that we hang out with and get along with
We love our church, our small group and have ways to serve
I know how rare all of those things are. So many people would give anything just to have even 1 of those things I just listed. Life for us has been really, really good here. God has been really, really good to us!
All that to say that a decision to go seems illogical and borderline crazy.
When we were in Chile this past April hearing the testimonies of the missionaries and how God lead them to the ministry, Marco shared how he had built a steady life in a good vocation and leaving that for ministry was perhaps the hardest choice he had ever made. He said, “It’s hard to make a big change in your life when times are easy.” And I knew that was us at that moment. I knew God had a big change in store for us and I knew times were easy for us.
Then came the hard decision. The best decision for us. To follow Gods lead.
That’s enough logic for me, and Gods logic always trumps human logic. So let’s go!
Live long and prosper! Jeremiah 29:11 (Paraphrase)
