Not from where you’d think…

Going into the processes of raising support, there were a number of vertean missionaries and support trainers that all said, “the support will come from the places you least expect” but they also added, “and the places you’d expect it to come from, many times, it won’t.”

When you’ve put so much into certain relationships, it would seem natural for them to be a part of the support team. Our human minds plan and assume so much about the future, when, in reality, we cannot come close to predict the perfect result that God will land us at.When it comes to our human expectations, there are so many factors at play and I’m not faulting anyone in the decision making process because in most cases the choice has already been made by default even before we share our ministry vision and make the ask to invite them on our team. Whether it be budget constraints, bad timing, philosophical reasons, debt, etc. Everyone has been behind us and excited for us but not everyone can give, and that’s ok! Really, it is ok! Because others can give and we are just simply on a journey to keep sharing the story and make the invitation to potential supporters. Then the results are the Lord’s. It’s His harvest field, He has the resources to get us there. His Holy Spirit will lead in the hearts of just the right stewards to give at just the right time and at just the right amount.

Either way, we do know 2 things:

1. God has called us to the mission field

2. God will provide support for that calling.

We have traveled thousands of miles, seen hundreds of friends and family, presented our ministry before many churches, and humanly-speaking you can’t help but feel discouragment when you don’t see support come from the places you’d expect. It’s only human to have expectations, but it has been a process to let go of those human expectations and to come to a place of only expecting God to provide regardless of the means. Honestly, I’m embarrassed and humbled before God whenever we come out of a meeting where my human expectations were low, but they decide to give sacrificially and come on our team at a substantial amount.

So while we still have those human thoughts and feelings, our knowledge of Gods sovereignty trumps the temporal discouragements. We can rest in that certainty. We can rest in the provision that we have been experiencing, by Gods grace. We have made huge strides in our monthly support and it has come from some very unexpected places and people.

He has called us to this task, and He will provide the support we need to do the task that He has called us to do! (Acts 20:24)
