Prayer, Part 3

We’ve been in a waiting room of sorts on a few of our specific prayer requests. A waiting room is where you ask for something, then you sit for an undetermined amount of time in a uncomfortable chair, surrounded by others who are also waiting on things (some more major than yours). Eventually, you get called up to receive the help that you think you need.
While you are waiting you can either read a magazine, watch TV, or sit and stew with anger or pain. How do you make the best use of that time? In life, you can dwell in anxiety over the issue which you have no control over, or you can keep living. Most times there is nothing we can do to move things along, so why not simply admit that it is not in our hands. God is the one who ‘gives and takes away’ so live like that’s true.
When I seem to be in limbo between a specific prayer request and a potential answer to that request, I try not to jump to conclusions or get my hopes up (or down) before I know the outcome. You don’t want to ‘count your chickens before they hatch’ prayerfully speaking.
So don’t focus too much on what you cannot control. Focus that time and attention on continued prayer and then just live your life with the relief of knowing that God’s got this!
