Have you ever been frustrated by a broken system? Computer system, government system, church, family, workplace, need I go on? Of course, we’ve all experienced the pain of a system that needs to be improved. It seems like whenever a new version of this system is released, we see some improvement, we see some larger holes and it seems there’s still a long way to go.
To get a system from Point A to Point B takes a lot of work, it takes leadership and vision.
As I mentioned in my post titled, “Best Laid Plans” there’s a couple of other reasons why I had always convinced myself that I was not a leader. One of those reasons was that I didn’t think I had any ‘vision’ and I assumed rightly that you need vision to be a leader. But over the years I’ve realized that I do have a capacity for vision and just need to exercise it.
If you have ever imagined a better version of something, then you have vision.
Some people certainly have more of these ‘futuristic’ tendencies than others, but I believe we all have some capacity here. In fact, God has a vision for us and I believe that quality is transferred to every man as we are all created ‘in His image’.
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
Our very identity as a creation of God and a child of God, includes a better imagined future for us. It seems that a life lived for God includes desires in us for a future that glorifies God and uses us as instruments to make something better in our world.
What is that something for you in your world? What do you see around you that needs to change? Big or small. That’s vision. Keep dreaming. Keep sharing. Then act.
