Woah! We’re half-way there!

I think it was the American poet Bon Jovi 😉 who penned the classic words,

“(woah) We’re halfway there(woah) livin’ on a prayer”

While I don’t think raising missionary support was exactly what he had in mind with this phrase, it is what we have in mind! We are to the halfway point in our fund raising and we are so thankful to God for so many people that have gotten behind us with their encouraging words, prayers and pledges.

So what is my answer in this situation to the age old question, “Is the glass half full or half empty?” Yes!

It is not one or the other, it is both/and. We are celebrating this milestone, but not slowing down, it keeps us fueled to finish this journey.

I know God has so much in store for us once we are in Chile, but we have already learned so much on this journey right now! As challenging as this chapter of life has been, it has stretched our faith and prepared us for what I’m sure will be even more challenges ahead. Our target to get to Chile is still June of 2018, so we still have one full year to go.  Most of this next year will be spent in southern Texas at language school.

As far as we have come, there is still a long way to go. We are 4 months into our 6 month road trip and we are definitely encouraged with where we are, but we also know that once we start language school our trip will come to a screeching halt and the pace of support raising will too.

Next week we head to our hometown of Pottersville to continue support raising in our networks there and spend some much needed time with our friends, our sending church family and our kids’ friends too! (Oh, the kids have been so great through this whole trip, but they miss their friends too!)

So now that we’re “over the hump” hopefully the momentum will pick up as we head to the finish. Please pray with us that the Lord will lead in the hearts of people and churches to invest in our family and what we are doing. Big things are ahead!
